Second Jain Tirthankara

Bhagvan Ajitnath dev was born in Ayodhya, on eighth day of the bright half of the month of Magh,. His father name was King Jitshatru and Mother name was Vijaya Devi. After short span of worldly life time, he took diksha in his youth along with 1000 other men’s. After 12 years of diksha and worldly life abandonment Lord Ajitnath attained (kevalgyan )salvation on the eleventh day of the bright half of the month of Paush and constellation of Rohini.

On the fifth day of the bright half of the month of Chaitra, Bhagwan Ajitnath, along with other 1000 saints was liberated and attained nirvana on Sammet Shikhar (mountain).

Bhagwan Ajitnath Dev lived for 72 lakh purv of which he spent 1 purvarg less of one lakh purv as an ascetics and 12 years of Meditation and Spiritual Practices (sadhana/tap).

It is believed that Ajitnath prabhu was 450 measure of bow(at that time unit of measurement was bow i.e. bow of bow & arrow) in height.
