Dharmnath Bhagavan

Fifteenth Jain Tirthankara

Bhagvan Dharmnath dev: was born in Ratnapur, on the third day of the bright half of the month of Magh . His father name was King Bhanu and Mother name was Suvrata Devi. After long span of life time, he took diksha on the 13th day of the bright half of the month of Magh along with 1000 other men’s.

After two years of diksha and worldly life abandonment Lord Dharmnath attained (kevalgyan ) salvation on the 15th day of the bright half of the month of Paush and constellation of Pushpa .

On the 5th day of the bright half of the month of Jaisthaya, Bhagwan Dharmnath, along with other 108 saints was liberated and attained nirvana on Sammet Shikhar (mountain).

Bhagwan Dharmnath lived for 10 lakh years of which he spent 2.5 lakh years as an ascetics and two years of Meditation and Spiritual Practices (sahdana/tap).

It is believed that Dharmnath prabhu was 45 measure/unit of bow(at that time unit of measurement was bow i.e. bow of bow & arrow) in height.
